European Works Council of Bombardier Transportation (2010)
Project undertaken by the European Works Council of Bombardier Transportation to optimise the communication and operation of the work of the EWC. The project was jointly financed with funds from the budget line 04.03.03.03 of the European Commission, “Directorate-General for Employment”. To “optimise the communication and operation of the European Works Council of Bombardier” was a central concern of the European Works Council of Bombardier (BEWC) in consultation with the management of Bombardier Inc.
The project was initiated with the aim of reinforcing co-operation between EWC members through improved information flow and confidence-building measures between the European sites. The task was to create confidence-building conditions, in order to harmonise issues of employment and capacity utilisation throughout Europe.
The Evaluation of the communication structures was met with great interest from all those involved and initial results to improve the information flow were already developed in Brussels. For example, a flow chart of the individual production sites and production lines was prepared.
At another workshop in Vasteras (Sweden), the next stages and tasks were then discussed with the EWC members and trade union representatives in September 2010. The following results, amongst others, were obtained : the production of a regular newsletter for the EWC and sites / Standardisation of reporting from the regions / More prompt dissemination of information to all sites of Bombardier.
